Jason Tatum has renewed his contract with the Boston Celtics to become the largest in NBA history.

Sports media ESPN and The Associated Press reported Tuesday that Tatum signed a five-year contract worth 314 million U.S. dollars. It is the highest contract ever in the NBA. Ahead of the last season, the contract signed by teammate Jaylen Brown will surpass the maximum of 304 million dollars over the past five years.

In addition, Tatum's right to choose a team a year later and conditions for financial compensation when he moves to another team are reportedly included.

Tatum, a former Duke University graduate, joined Boston in the 2017 rookie draft and was a five-time NBA All-Star.

The Boston Red Sox also extended his contract with Derrick White for 126 million dollars for four years. The Boston Red Sox has signed contracts with Tatum, Brown, White, Zruh Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis, and will have the chance to win the contract for at least the 2025-2026 season. The Associated Press predicted that Boston's total salary and wealth tax will exceed 400 million dollars.

Meanwhile, Boston said the Wick Grosbeck-led club ownership group will sell all of its shares by 2028.
